Maddie Yuille (b. 1988) is a visual artist based in London. Since graduating with an MA in Fine Art from City and Guilds of London Art School (2019), she has been shortlisted for the Contemporary British Painting Prize (2019), the Ashurst Emerging Artist Award (2020), and the Ingram Prize (2021), and has undertaken a number of residencies, including the Incubating Residency at Pictorum Gallery (2022-2023), the San Moritz Art Academy Residency (2022), and the Elephant Digital Residency (2021).

Yuille’s work is concerned with visualising her experience of embodiment – the sensorial experience of being, in all it's messy, co-mingling glory. Most recently, she is creating work that explores how it feels to inhabit a pregnant and post-partum body. Her textured, energetic and layered paintings combine acrylic, oil paint, and oil crayon to create corporeal forms that are swelling and bulging, all bellies and boobs. Solid yet wobbly, boundaried but porous; these forms have a weighty physicality, in a process of leaky exchange, as breastmilk and saliva intermingle. She aims to visualise the tumultuous embodied experience of becoming a mother, both through the sense of her own body changing, and the ways in which her body connects with another.
