Maddie Yuille is an artist living and working in London.

Her paintings explore and re-create moments of noticing, in which the most ordinary of spaces momentarily appear extraordinary. Devoid of people, the architecture itself and the light become the main actors in the space. Each painting is laden with expectation about what might just have happened or what could be about to occur, imbued with a sense of stillness, melancholy and a yearning for the unknown.

Lingering upon the often overlooked, she aims to convey a slowing down of time, in which a fleeting moment is observed and contemplated. Working from her own photos, she uses a heightened colour palette to convey a sense of the mundane appearing strange and enlivened. Each painting hovers between illusion and reality, shifting between a recognisable place and a collection of simply applied brush marks.
